1) ASSISTANCE WITH UNDERSTANDING A CHAPTER/ACT (Literature, History, Social Studies)

Study a chapter/act from your subject of choice, collate as many questions as you can think of, and send them to me. (Note, for literature, it has to be a text I’m already familiar with. Feel free to contact me to enquire.)

If you’d like to try to answer some of them, and you’d like me to check your understanding, put in your answers before sending them over.

I will answer every single one of them, and mark any answers you attempt, giving you guiding points and tips to help you to better understand the chapter/act.

There’s no limit to how many questions you can ask, as long as you send them in as one single request. The goal is to help you to understand the chapter/act completely.

Price: approximately $80 per chapter/act (price to be discussed over e-mail, because some books have very short chapters, and other books have no chapters, etc.)
Turnover: 1 week

2) ESSAYS – ENGLISH, HISTORY, LITERATURE & SOCIAL STUDIES

If you’d like to practice writing essays, but have no one to mark them and guide you, you may send them to me.

I will mark them, collate a list of suggestions, and send a guiding essay back to you. The guiding essay will mirror your essay as far as possible whilst incorporating the suggestions I make so that you can better understand how to improve.

Price: between $60 to $80 per essay (depending on level, to be discussed over e-mail).
Turnover: 3 days
(Note: I do not do homework for students, not even if offered payment. This option is not meant for that.)

3) CRASH COURSES – LITERATURE, HISTORY, SOCIAL STUDIES

• Slots for crash courses will only be made available during the holiday months (i.e. June, November, December).
• Crash courses will be conducted only on weekdays.
  • I think it’s important for students to rest during the holidays, and family time on weekends are valuable.
• Lessons will be conducted online.
  • Offline lessons are negotiable, but I’ll have to be in the country for that to happen).
• Note: Crash courses are demanding. A level of motivation on the student’s part is required. Crash courses will not work if the tutee does not want the help because there isn’t enough time to coax, cajole and motivate them. Therefore, to make the most of my efforts and your money, please only enroll your child if they want the help.

Literature

• Covering the general meaning behind the literature text:
  • Only available during the November and December months.
    • Time is required for this.
  • I will only conduct a crash course for this purpose during the month of June IF the text is a very short one.
  • This crash course will not cover answering techniques.
    • If this is also required, then additional hours will be required.
• How to Annotate Texts:
  • Available for the months of June, November and December.
• How to Write Literature Essays:
  • A more technical crash course;
  • Questions will be based on Unseen Poems.
  • IF the student is studying a text which I am familiar with, we will work on essays based on said text.
    • But, I will not be covering an understanding of the text.
    • If understanding the text is also required, then more hours will be required.
  • I will focus solely on answering techniques, understanding the teacher’s motive behind each question, PEEL/PEAL/PEDAL format, etc.

History / Social Studies

• Understanding History / Social Studies
  • This crash course is for the purposes of helping the student understand what the subject is and why it is important, how to study for the subject, what to look out for, etc.
  • It will entail a study of at least one chapter, for practice purposes, so that the student will know how to self-study for the rest of the chapters.
• Answering History / Social Studies Questions
  • Two versions of this crash course are available: SBQ and SRQ.
  • If both are required, then more time will be required as well.
